DreamCatchers 2.0

Our 2.0 club members make a meal with NH Food Bank's Recipe for Success program.

DreamCatchers 2.0 young adult clubs started around 2015, as much of the original DreamCatchers group had “grown-up."

We currently have clubs in Dover and a partnership in Manchester with SNHU Buddies.

Many of the participants in these clubs have jobs or volunteer and live independently or with a parent.

DreamCatchers 2.0 was created to offer a safe space for those living with a disability that allows them to be more independent, to gather and form relationships as a group, and to interact with their community.

One example of this is when a DreamCatchers 2.0 group visited their local public access station to perform a TV News skit they called “Nifty News”.

The Dover 2.0 group has gone to Hannafords to learn about healthy living and will soon have a police officer visit to talk about safety.

We have been collaborating with local universities to have volunteers, where able, come and help run the activities to support the club leader and build relationships with the members.

Your choice

Want a club in your area? It takes a few things and typically about 3 months to get one going.

Needs:

  • Someone willing to be the leader (young adult advocating for this program with leadership experience or desire)

  • A facilitator who can assist as needed (adult with experience working with adults living with a disability)

  • A location, Dreamcatchers can help

  • At least 3 others who are willing to attend for the first year

If you're interested reach out to Dena at dena@dreamcatchersnh.org. The Dover group started this way and was able to be up and running in about 3months if not less. It is possible!
